The Portrait Session

Whether we’re looking at working with dogs, horses or humans, the process of the portrait session is almost identical. Learn about the steps involved here, along with the investment options available too.

  • Step 1

    Register your interest. It seems simple and it is – simply select a date or outline a deadline, let Julie know a little about the subject and share your general location. From here, we’ll then…

  • Step 2

    At this point, Julie will complete a complimentary consultation with you to gather your wishes into a single, or a few, specific concepts. We’ll discuss locations and timings, as well as dates and end goals here before moving on to…

  • Step 3

    Creation. At this point, the creation commences and this could be one single portrait session with you or your preferred subject, or it could be an entire process working through months of individual photo shoots, costuming, styling and more, to result in all of the elements needed to finish the concept identified in the consultation.

    Within creation is also the retouching and post production, where many days are spent carefully working on every inch of the piece to create something truly iconic. At the end of the creation, we’ll then move into…

  • Step 4

    The Reveal. Here, we reconvene either in person or virtually, to reveal the pieces created within Step 3. Often this is the first time you will have seen the elements captured in Step 3 in a finished format.

  • Step 5

    Here the artwork is passed to our printing partners in the North East or Italy, where they hand print, hand varnish, hand make and hand frame the artwork to our exacting standards on your request. They then package the piece and deliver it with great care to us, here in Yorkshire.

    Once we have checked the piece, we then deliver it to your door.

Portrait Session Note:

Each session will result in 30-60 final photographic pieces for you to choose from. Print packages start at $295 with the majority of our clients opting for wall art, albums or wall galleries (see example below), with most investing between $500 and $2500 in their artwork. The Timeless Collection

This is one popular wall collection featuring three identically sized vertical Fine Art wall panels. The three panels hang with either 1 or 2 inches between them, providing an overall width of 63 to 65 inches. 

We pre-create stunning wall galleries so that you have perfection without the hassle of trying to work it out yourself. Each collection has a standard size and some alternative options, ensuring that it fits the intended space easily without overpowering the room. We recommend measuring walls and photographing rooms before attending your viewing session.

  • The Tray Frame

    The open frame surrounds the image with a narrow gap between the solid wood frame and image creating the impression that it is levitating. The finishing involved gives us creative freedom to produce a stunning piece of gallery standard wall art. Options include High-impact HD Acrylic which is mounted onto archival board for timeless display, classic canvas, Fine art print, and Aluminum which has a high gloss finish and really creates that WOW factor when viewed.

  • The Showcase

    The Showcase is a lovely wood box that is handmade in Europe. It holds 7”x5” prints and a lovely custom USB drive. The acrylic lid protects the pictures and transforms the box into a standing frame to be displayed in your home. The prints within are printed on fine art papers and mounted perfect for framing.

  • The Forest Box

    Because it is the 21st Century, we believe that offering digital versions of artwork is not just beneficial, it is expected. With the Forest Box, you have the ability to preserve your files on a traditional USB drive, and you can print these as you wish forever more.

  • The Acrylic Block

    This tabletop keepsake is 1” thick which allows it to easily be set on any tabletop or shelf, ideal for offices or anywhere in the home.

    Looking to customize your Acrylic Block? As an example, you could include a paw print engraving etched on the front of your 5×7" block! There's a variety of pre-made designs and engraving options available to add a personalized touch to your portraits.

  • The Album

    Assembled by hand with curated, high-quality materials to be cherished as an heirloom. Albums offer luxurious cover materials and several customization options upon request.
